CADET SHARING
Parents shared information about what and how their cadets were doing. As always, it was good to hear about what these young men and women are doing, how they are adjusting to life at the AFA, and future plans for the upcoming summer sessions and the near graduates.
ALO REPORT
Major Tom Mattison was unavailable for this meeting. Tom says Hi, and thank you!
AIR FORCE EVENTS NOTIFICATION
We are in need of a process to notify club members (likely via website) about Air Force events (Sports, Mock Trail Debates, etc) coming to the Twin Cities and where tickets can be purchased. Action – TBD.
SPRING SOCIAL REPORT
A fantastic event! Thanks to ALL for the hard work and effort to make this event a success and welcoming in nature for the 2012 appointees.
A rough accounting is as follows. Exact amounts will be provided to the treasurer within the next few weeks:
Olympic Hills Exp: $4,765.00
Auction Exp: $361.36
Other Exp: $1,073.41
Net Proceeds after Exp: $1,317.65
Discussion occurred on how to improve revenue on this event as it is our major fundraiser of the year. The key to revenue is participation and attendance by appointee families, club members, and alumni.
Action – Deb Martenson to send a thank you note from the club to all ALO’s who attended.
Action – Deb Martenson to complete Graduation Gift actions for the class of 2008.
NEW FUNDRAISING IDEA
Jin & Debra Baik presented a new fundraising idea regarding Wheaties Box’s. A cadet could be featured on the front of the box and for an additional charge, a bio of the cadet could appear on the back. The box’s than are shipped directly to your home and come in a clear plastic case.
The club is looking for a template of sorts so it would be easier to print the pictures on each box.
Deb Sturdevant is going to work on the template for the Wheaties Box’s with information provided by Jin Baik.

UPCOMING EVENTS
Class of 2012 Spring Orientation (May 17th, 2008 10:00am) Officer’s Club @ Fort Snelling - Guest Speaker for this event will be Brig. General Susan Y. Desjardins, USAFA Commandant of Cadets! Highlights as follows:
-All Class Reps (Action) – Your attendance at this meeting is requested. Each will be speaking about a USAFA subject (BCT, Recognition, etc) from the parents perspective.
-3 Minnesota cadets will also be attending this event. Cadets will need to be in service dress because Brig. General Desjardins will be in service dress.
-Action –Deb Martenson to publish final agenda for this meeting.
USAFA Parents Club Picnic(July 26th, 2008 11:00am) Fort Snelling State Park – Final plans are being put in place for this event. Will likely be doing pulled pork instead of a BBQ this year to facilitate an easier event although this will involve slightly higher cost. A “Save the date” flyer will be given to the new families at orientation, with a follow up flyer to be sent closer to the time of the picnic.
Parents Weekend (Labor Day, 2008) – Our site has been reserved (2A) for the tailgate. Discussion around this event and potential changes/improvements occurred with the morning breakfast/social to be cancelled and having this event become a post-game activity. Once all the details are organized a flyer will be sent out to all via the mail.
THE MEETING WAS ADJOURNED AT 11:59 am.
Respectfully submitted,
Joe Tarvin (Secretary)
