meetings at the 133 National Air Guard Base, which is on the NE corner of the MSP Airport at the junction of Crosstown Hwy. 62 and MN Hwy 55.  At the light for the junction of 62 and 55 take the frontage road south to the Air Guard gate, which is just west of the Fort Snelling Federal Building.   The names of all the parents are on a list at the gate for this meeting, you will have to show your driver's license ID at the entry gate.  It is similar to getting onto the Academy.  If you have difficulty call Don Ford's cell phone #  We meet at Building 631 upstairs in the Board Room.  Bldg.631 is the first bldg. on the left after the guard gate.

We strongly encourage attendance at our monthly meetings.  All of our activities are focused on supporting our cadets and their parents as we go through the Academy experience.  Our next regular meeting is Saturday November 6, 2004 at 10:00 am.  We will be doing the final planning for cookie packing, passing out the roster, learning what is going on at the Academy, and most importantly, we will share how our cadet is doing and hear about all the others.

Concerning COOKIE PACKING:
Cookie Packing will be done at the Mess Hall of the Air Guard Base, Saturday December 4, 2004, this is a couple blocks into the Base and is well marked.  If you can arrive at 8:00am to set up, that would be good.  For those coming from long distances you need to arrive early enough to get your cookies into all the boxes as we start to tape them up around 10am so we can get them to the air port and signed in for the 1pm FedEx flight.  We will have all the labels, boxes, and greeting cards (if you choose to send something special to your cadet), etc. available.  Our goodies are well known around the Academy, and are often shared to spread good will and extra energy during finals!!  This year we are asking you to bring 125 INDIVIDUALLY WRAPPED items to pack.  You can bring cookies, candy, caramel corn, etc, we always have an outstanding variety.  If you are unable to bring something, we ask that you contribute $35.00 to cover the cost of shipping.  If you send a donation, please make it payable to MN USAFA Parent's Club.  And send it to Dick Booth, 15214 Edgewater Circle NE, Prior Lake, MN 55372.  We will have Northwest employees volunteer their perks for a reduced cost to ship the large boxes.  The boxes will be distributed by 5 or 6 MN Cadets directly to our Cadets  (WE STILL NEED CADET VOLUNTEERS FOR THIS)  Please ask your cadet, and let us know.  We will have juice, coffee and goodies to eat and a short Parents Club Meeting  and find out how our cadets are doing just before finals. We will be finished at approximately 12 NOON.

SATURDAY FEBRUARY 5, 2005 at 10 am is our next meeting back in the Boardroom of Bldg. 631.  This is the Graduation Information Meeting and we need to start planning graduation from the first year we are at the Academy.  The Quinn's and Stachour's will be sharing their graduation experiences as well as some of our other alumni.

MARCH 5, 2005 at 10 am we meet again to plan our only fund raiser, the Candidate Spring Banquet.  As you all know, this is a big occasion and we like to involve as many parents as possible.  Please try to attend or volunteer by phone or e-mail.

APRIL  CANDIDATE SPRING BANQUET  you will be receiving an invitation.

MAY 7, 2005 at 10 am.  The reins are turned over to the capable class of 2006.  We get the Banquet report, honor the parents of the graduating class of 2005 and plan the very important Orientation for the class of 2009.

JUNE 4, 2005 at 8:30 am  ORIENTATION FOR CLASS OF 2009 at the Mess Hall (GUARD ROCK CAFÉ)

All of the monthly meetings have their agendas and they are all worthwhile, but the real purpose of MN USAFA Parent Meetings is to share how our cadets are doing, encouraging and helping each other as we go through similar experiences. We also learn more about the Academy and the changes that go on ALL the time. We are hoping for a larger turn out of parents at our meetings.  So please, post these lists of meetings and  Mom and Dad's nights out.  Get them on your calendar and COME TO THE MEETINGS.  We have a really good time with a great group of people, with whom we will be associated for much of the rest of our lives.

Sincerely,
Class Reps for 2005
