Dear Class of 2011 Appointees and Parents:

Congratulations!! We wish to welcome you to YOUR United States Air Force Academy Parents Club of Minnesota.

While our cadets experience life at USAFA as it’s called, along with all of its challenges, opportunities, and accomplishments, the Parents club serves as a source of support, information, and friendship for its members. We not only welcome you, we also encourage you to become involved in YOUR club.

On Saturday May 19, 2007 the Parents club is hosting an orientation for the 2011 appointees, and their parents. The meeting will begin at 9:00AM, and end at approximately 12:00PM. Our guest speaker is Colonel (Ret) Rolf Enger, Director of Education at the Academy. Along with Colonel Enger, Minnesota cadets from the Academy will also be in attendance and will offer first hand experience to the parents, and future cadets. So jot down ALL those questions. 

Another date to save is July 21, 2007. This is our annual USAFA Parents club picnic, which will be held at Ft. Snelling. After that comes Parents weekend at the Academy. This is an exciting time for USAFA families, and particularly for our new members. On August 31, 2007 you will be able to attend class with your cadet, so if possible, try to arrive in Colorado Springs on August 30, 2007. We mention this because it would be a good idea to book your hotel ASAP, as they fill up quickly for this weekend.

While we all know this is a busy time for your family, please make time to attend the orientation, as it’s a great ground breaker for the USAFA experience. Also at the orientation you will be able to purchase club buttons, apparel, picnic tickets, football tickets for Parents weekend, and tailgate tickets for the BBQ after the football game on Saturday September 1, 2007. Don’t worry we won’t break your bank.

The Metropolitan Airports Commission Building (MAC bldg.) is the host site for the orientation. It’s located at 6040 28^th Ave. So. Minneapolis, MN. Driving east or west on #62 crosstown you will go south on the 28^th street exit. The 28^th street exit is east of Hwy. 77 (Cedar Ave) and west of Hwy. 55. The MAC bldg. will be on the right side.
